HOURS:
- Position will rotate to AM, PM and NO shifts as needed to cover vacations and leaves.
- Overtime and weekend work as needed.
- Starting times and hours may vary depending on coverage due to report-offs and the production schedule especially during holidays.
- Good attendance and punctuality required.
JOB SUMMARY/ JOB DUTIES:
- Position rotates to 1st, 2nd and 3rd shifts as needed to cover for vacation and leaves.
- Role assist leader in all Distribution activities and will be required to fill in for the leader and/or other distribution positions (Fresh Shipping/Basket Stacker, Freezer, Receiving and clerical tasks) on various shifts as needed. All aspects of the department are required to be learned.
- Coordinates floor activities including fielding concerns shippers might have with loading, product supply or other outbound daily loading concerns that require immediate attention.
- Interacts with the leader to organize and coordinate any cross-functional issues that arise.
- Responsible for assisting in several SAP transactions and will assist in the weekly fresh inventory process and weekly cycle count process.
- Will be required to work additional days when needed in order to satisfy physical inventory requirements
- Required to obtain a CDL to move trailers as needed.
- Performs work as the back-up for shortages and vacations in the receiving department.
- Required to work in a freezer environment when needed as a back-up or during inventory.
- Work with and learn from the leader various aspects of the leader role, including safety requirements ,crewing requirements and coaching opportunities as they relate to performance.
- Insures all SQF, HACCP, CTS, Safety, Hygiene and Calibration standards are adhered to.
- Communicates thoroughly with the previous shift regarding personnel problems, unfinished task workload, special requests or requirements, crewing shortages, schedule changes or any situation requiring attention.
- Conduct job specific training for new/existing employees in all plant programs.
- Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
- Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
- SAP commits are necessary, and all knowledge must be understood and used correctly.
- This position will be required to receive all products back from production. Products will be received via an automated stacker/or the possibility of hand stacking when a stacker is not available.
- All stacker equipment lockout must be known, safely and correctly operated per the procedures.
- Separates product by variety and day for storage.
- Pushes 400 lbs. plus (on wheels) as needed.
- Manually stacks cases keeping up with line for freezer orders.
- Supplies empty baskets to production lines.
- Can palletize Hearth products 10 high; bulk rolls 13 high
- Must drive various types of lift trucks and pass licensing requirements.
- Must be able stack baskets 15 high regularly, 17 high occasionally (8 1/2 feet).
- Must count accurately, and lift 30 lbs. from floor to above
- Picks cases using MOA numbers.
- Reads and interprets pick list.
- Secures loads on trucks and marks properly for identification.
- Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Directly supervises employees in the Distribution Department while covering for Leader vacation. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Decision Making Skills: Must have strong decision making and communication skills. They must have the ability to utilize/exercise good judgment, and they must ensure issues are quickly resolved and communicated with supervision. Fill out communication boards daily.
- Food Safety Awareness: Food safety awareness is critical in this position. This position will be held accountable to having a full understanding and adherence to the strictest compliance standards, in relation to HACCP, CTS, GMP, and/JSA procedure and standards related to this position. Focused awareness and prevention of contamination/ potential contamination, allergen control, and lot code traceability are key objectives in this role.
- Formula Control: Formula control is vital to ensuring compliance to label management of our products. Must abide to exact formula specifications and procedures, to ensure bread quality standards are maintained and label contents are aligned.
- Maintains work area to “5S” cleanliness, housekeeping and organizational standard.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Distribution/Receiving/shipping/material handling
- Forklift
- SAP, Computer programs
- Must possess a high school diploma, general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
- Two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and push/pull heavy loads on wheeled dollies

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is expected to comply with all safety regulations, support plant safety initiatives, proper operating procedures and utilize prescribed safety equipment such as safety eyeglasses, safety shields, gloves, earplugs, respirators, and approved footwear.
- Ability to deal with a changing work environment and high-pressure situations.
- Must be able to work in a team environment.
- This position may require overtime as deemed necessary to support operations activities.
- Successful bid is contingent on passing Powered Industrial Equipment physical and licensing requirements.
- Employees’ approved vacation subject to change when bidding to a new area.
- There will be a 90-day evaluation period to ensure satisfactory performance.
- Must stay on the job one year.
